Originally released in 1991 as “Oil On Water” under the name
Akifumi Nakajima in a limited edition of 33 copies, it was re-edited and
re-recorded in 1995 as “Huile Sur L'Eau” under the name Aube.
Re-edited
and re-recorded as “Huile Sur L'Eau” and released in a limited edition of 120
copies in a special beeswax waterproof envelope package known as the G.R.O.S.S.
GRE Series.
This time, the '95 GRE series was faithfully reissued, and
while the original had a black-and-white copy of the cover photo, this time an
actual photo was used, faithfully reproducing Nakajima's original intent.
Presumably, the black-and-white copies were used for the jackets in the 1990s,
when photo prints were more expensive than they are today.
In fact, the '95
edition stored in Nakajima-san's archives used the actual photo, not the
black-and-white copy that was released.
Originally released under the name Akifumi Nakamija, it is a true original landscape of Aube's music, expressing the most primitive Aube sound world using only water as a sound material, which is synonymous with Aube.
